Our Story
New Freedom Clothing Company was born in Odessa Texas in 2012. The brand had a humble beginning and was birthed from a desire to create clothing that stands for something true and boasts a message of hope. In 2012, the founder, Ronnie Scrogum had hit an all time low in his life. After a bad year, he reached out for help and ended up in a treatment center in Hunt, Texas. Determined to live his life differently, Ronnie started living the life of sobriety. One day while shopping for hats he realized that nothing matched his personality, and he decided to have some custom made. He called it NFF “NEW FOUND FREEDOM”. These hats were extremely simple and to the point, and began to raise curiosity with the people that he encountered on a daily basis. This sparked countless opportunities to share his story about overcoming alcoholism, his road to recovery, and God’s healing that comes through choosing to live a sober lifestyle. He decided he wanted to pursue this full time and the NEW FREEDOM website was born in 2015. Ronnie ran New Freedom Clothing Company for a year and made every business mistake imaginable. But even with mistakes, lessons can be learned and seeds planted. After some bad business decisions, he had to hang up the hats for a while and return to what he knew best, the good ol’ West Texas oil patch. But the dream never died and soon those seeds started to take root. The brand has evolved over time from representing Ronnie’s freedom from alcoholism to representing any addiction or struggle that keeps you chained to a life of sorrow and shame an hinders you from living the life of freedom that God has called you to. Through grit, determination, hard work, and a whole lot of God’s grace and mercy, we are able to persevere. New Freedom is a small company built on big core values. Honesty, integrity, and a message of hope is what we desire to share with the world. We are striving to become a household name, planting seeds of hope and sharing the message of God’s redemption through recovery. All glory goes to God. Rep your NF with us.
MONICA’S LAW
Monica Deming was a beautiful Soul. She was one of New Freedom’s founding supporters. She purchased the very first t-shirt NF printed . In 2015 she started dating a guy and everything was going great… until it wasn’t. About 2 months into the relationship, she realized that there were some major red flags. She worked hard and got out of the relationship and moved into her own place. The ex-boyfriend started stalking and harassing her daily. She reached out for help from everyone that would listen. On November 29th, 2015, the unthinkable tragedy happened. Her ex-boyfriend broke into her house and shot her then turned the gun on himself. The tragedy rocked the community as Monica was loved by everyone. Desiring justice for not only Monica, but for all women suffering from abuse, her loved ones reached out to State Representative Brooks Landgraf. As a result Monica’s Law is now in place. This law is a registry of domestic abuse offenders that is available for public access.
